Two concert halls for an audience of 2,500 people, a 14-metre guitar-shaped bar, 350 artists performing at the club during the 11 months of its existence, triangular posters hanging all over the city this is the story of one of the first independent rock clubs in free Poland which took Warsaw by storm. It became the most important place on the map of the resurgent capital in 1992 and rallied an extraordinary community of young people who loved music and fun.

Fugazi was the centre of the universe for people who wanted to change reality and see the world from a new perspective. This is where Kuba Wojewodzki gained his first experience in conducting interviews, Grzegorz Miecugow and Jurek Owsiak hosted events, Tadeusz Nalepa and Czeslaw Niemen attended concerts, and Marek Kotanski organised his campaigns. Fugazi eventually shut down, but its legend lives on!

”Fugazi The Centre of The Universe” is a documentary and animated film depicting the short, though eventful history of one of the first private, independent music clubs in free Poland, considered at that time the biggest of its kind in Central-Eastern Europe.

Leszek Gnoinski’s film combines archival concert footage, interviews with artists, and captivating animations by Marcin Podolec, based on the comic book ”Fugazi Music Club” which has been translated and published in seven countries. It’s a 40-minute trip to the crazy days of the early 90s, which for many people were the best time of their lives.
