Debate: “People, not numbers. Basic income guarantee”

Basic income causes a lot of stir. Does this guaranteed benefit, paid out each month to every citizen for satisfying their basic needs, promote indolence? Does it threaten the traditional family? Its critics think that benefits paid regardless of whether one works or not are bad for the morale. Then why do many European countries experiment with this model? Are there other methods of increasing income security? And the obvious afterthought: can we afford it? This and other questions will be answered by our guests.

Participants of the debate:
Christian Tod – director of “Free Lunch Society”
Maciej Szlinder – chairman of the board of the “Polish Network of Basic Income” association
Michal Brzezinski, PhD – assistant professor at the Faculty of Economic Sciences (University of Warsaw). Studies the distribution of income, consumption and wealth, as well as happiness, health and other factors of well-being
