Fiction/Non-Fiction Award
This year 10 films will compete for the Fiction/Non-Fiction Award and 4 000 euros. Jury members: Marta Minorowicz, Syllas Tzoumerkas and Tomasz Wasilewski . The award is funded by the Polish Film Institute.
Marta Minorowicz, a graduate of theatrology at the Jagiellonian University and the directing faculty at the Wajda School. Her latest film, a paradocumentary feature “Zud”, was nominated to the Crystal Bear at the Berlin IFF, received the distinction award at the „Inne Spojrzenie” (Other Look) contest during the Gdynia Festival and was awarded with the Fathy Farag Award for the greatest artistic contribution during Cairo International Film Critics Week.
Syllas Tzoumerkas, director, actor. He directed short films and collaborated with various tv-documentary shows on episodes related to contemporary politics, 20th century history and literature. “Homeland”, his debut feature film, had its world premiere at the International Critics’ Week of the 2010 Venice Film Festival. “A Blast”, his second feature, premiered at the International Competition of the Locarno Film Festival 2014. “The Miracle of the Sargasso Sea”, his third feature, is in development.
Tomasz Wasilewski, polish scriptwriter and director. His full – length feature debut “In a Bedroom” (“W sypialni”) had it’s world premiere in Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2012. His second feature film “Floating Skyscrapers” (“Płynące Wieżowce”) had it’s world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival in New York City 2013. His third movie “United States of Love” (“Zjednoczone Stany Miłości”) had it’s world premiere at 66th Berlin International Film Festival 2016 (Competition) and won Silver Bear for Best Script as well Tomasz Wasilewski was nominated as Best European Scriptwriter at 29th European Film Awards. For Best Director he received awards at Valleta FF and Gdynia FF.
