Daniel Abma (1978) was born in the Netherlands where he studied Primary school education. After his studies he moved to Berlin where he worked as a youth worker and started his studies Film directing at the Film University Babelsberg in Potsdam (Germany). His first feature length documentary BEYOND WRIEZEN was shown on numerous film festivals and won various prices, among others, the prestigious German Grimme Award. His debut film TRANSIT HAVANA was released 2016 and had theatrical release both in the Netherlands and Germany. Daniel makes charackter based documentaries about social issues, mostly long-time oberservations. Apart from film making he works as a teacher, gives workshops and lectures about documentary film making, and works as a tutor for documentary film projects. website: www.kamerakultur.de
