Screening of “Last Men in Aleppo” in the Polish parliament

The winner of BYDGOSZCZ ART/DOC AWARD has been announced

The BYDGOSZCZ ART/DOC AWARD in the main competition of 14th Millenium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival’s Bydgoszcz edition was presented on Sunday, 21st May at Kino Orzeł in the Municipal Centre of Culture. The award, which amounts to Euro 1,500 as well as the statuette will go to the author of “Last Men in Aleppo” (dir. Feras Fayyad).

“For a unique and personal character of the film which provokes strong emotion, for ‘freeing the minds’ fronm a temporary view as well as journalistic oversimplifications, for consequence and skilful production” – says the justification of the jury members’ (Magdalena Wichrowska, Marcin Sauter and Artur Owczarczak) decision.

The Bydgoszcz ART/DOC Award was granted for the first time in the history of Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival. The event is co-financed by  The Municipal Office of Bydgoszcz and  Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region. The WSB Universities in Bydgoszcz are the festival’s local strategic partner. Supporting partner: Municipal Centre of Culture in Bydgoszcz. The event is organised by the Art-House Foundation.

The best Asian film of the Rotterdam FF is now part of our program

“Children Are Not Afraid of Death, Children Are Afraid of Ghosts”, awarded at the 46th Rotterdam Film Festival, will have its Polish premiere at the 14th Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival. The director Rong Guang Rong will attend the festival to meet with the Polish audience.

We reveal the first titles from the 14th edition of our festival

“Tokyo Idols”, “The Workers Cup”, “Machines”, „Last Men in Aleppo”, „MappaMundi”, „The Good Postman” and „It’s Not Yet Dark” were all screened at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Polish audiences will be able to see them in May, as part of the 14th Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival.

Call for entries is now open

The call for submissions to the 14th Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival is now open. The festival will be held from the 12th till the 21st of May, 2017 in Warsaw, Wroclaw, Gdynia and over 20 cities around Poland.

Winner of The Mayor of Gdynia Award

For the first time Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival in cooperation with Gdyńskie Centrum Filmowe has also organized the Festival in Gdynia. A jury, consisting of: Katarzyna Figura (actress), Mikołaj Trzaska (saxophone player), Mirosław Przylipiak (film theorist) gave The Mayor of Gdynia Award to the film “Ukrainian Sheriffs”.

The MEDIA programme (abbreviation from French: Mesures pour Encourager le Développement de L’Industrie Audiovisuelle) was launched in 1991. Today it is part of the EU’s Creative Europe programme.

SOON WE’LL BLAST OFF FOR THE 13TH TIME!

The 13th edition of the MILLENNIUM DOCS AGAINST GRAVITY film festival will take place from May 13th to 25th 2016. This year, Warsaw, Wrocław and Bydgoszcz are joined by Tricity, with the modern Gdynia Film Centre. In keeping with our tradition, on the second weekend of the festival, we will also be in 20 other cities around Poland, as part of the MDocsAG Weekend.
