Debate: „How easy is it to give up freedom? What are the contemporary threats for freedom of speech and the right to privacy?”

On one hand, there is a justified belief that the Western Man was never as free as nowadays. On the other hand, films like “Free Speech Fear Free” show us the danger of total control of our lives. Are we not already living in a matrix, fed with illusions about our freedom? And if so, how to wake up from it? Amnesty International campaigns to stop the danger of mass invigilation. Personal data may be used, for example, to persecute journalists and activists, to profile and discriminate minorities, to supress freedom of speech. During the debate, together with the director and guests, we will think about those problems and how not to easily let others take our freedom.

Participants of the debate:
Tarquin Ramsay – director of “Free Speech Fear Free”
Piotr Niemczyk – lecturer at the Centre for the Study of Terrorism at Collegium Civitas, former employee of the Office for State Protection and former deputy minister of economy, opposition activist in communist Poland
Aleksandra Zielińska – coordinator of Amnesty International campaigns, mainly those concerning security, terrorism and invigilation

Host of the debate:
Tomasz Piątek – writer (“Heroine”), journalist
