In 2013 a video was posted on YouTube. It featured a heavy metal band playing in New York’s Times Square. Breaking all the stereotypes associated with this kind of music, three black teens from Brooklyn played on the sidewalk. The half-hour video was seen by 2.5 million people. A year later
Malcolm, Jarad and Alec signed a contract with Sony Music. In the meantime they appeared on many shows, like The Tonight Show, and they supported such stars as Metallica, Motorhead, Queens of the Stone Age, Guns N’ Roses and Marylin Manson. Unlocking the Truth is also the youngest band ever to play at the Coachella Festival. The music of Unlocking the Truth is an incredible dose of freshness in metal and quick punk. On one hand, their energetic guitars and rhytmic drums show what is best in these genres, on the other – they deconstruct them and turn them into a strange performance. This year’s festival marks the Polish premiere of “Breaking a Monster”, presenting the musicians from Unlocking the Truth.
