SOON WE’LL BLAST OFF FOR THE 13TH TIME!

The 13th edition of the MILLENNIUM DOCS AGAINST GRAVITY film festival will take place from May 13th to 25th 2016. This year, Warsaw, Wrocław and Bydgoszcz are joined by Tricity, with the modern Gdynia Film Centre. In keeping with our tradition, on the second weekend of the festival, we will also be in 20 other cities around Poland, as part of the MDocsAG Weekend.

For the thirteenth time, we invite you on a journey around the world and into yourselves. Our philosophy – exemplified by the festival motto – invites you to tear yourself away from your habits and preconceptions, to open yourself up to the world as shown by the most interesting and most dynamically developing film genre: documentaries. The films of MILLENNIUM DOCS AGAINST GRAVITY don’t have anything to do with the “docs” or reportages usually shown on TV. Can these works still be classified as “documentary” films then? We strive to tear ourselves away from such considerations. MILLENNIUM DOCS AGAINST GRAVITY festival films are NON-FICTION. They offer that, which is most important in cinema – emotions.

Yet again, we will show the latest, most remarkable works of documentary filmmaking, including films by Werner Herzog, Sergei Loznitsa, and Nikolaus Geyrhalter. Our audience will also be able to meet our outstanding guests, including the co-creator of modern astronomy Donald Lynden-Bell and William Binney – the man who could have prevented 9/11.

This year’s musical program is one of a kind! We will organize four concerts, all directly related to the festival program and the films from our selection. You will hear music from Kuitman and band, an Izraeli musician who incredibly combines amateur YouTube videos into 2.0 symphonies. We will also host the Polish premiere of the film Thru You Princess (dir. Ido Haar) which tells the story of Kutiman’s most famous Internet project featuring the completely unknown Princess Shaw of New Orleans.

As usual, we also invite you to take part in interesting debates organized in cooperation with prestigious international organizations such as: WWF Polska (both in Warsaw and in Gdynia), Frontex, Amnesty International Polska, or the European Commission. We create a unique space for debates with representatives of these organizations. Each year, we promote the ideas of sustainable development and reasonable approach to natural resources, as evidenced by our Green Warsaw Award – the only award for eco-themes films in Poland.

And much, much more…

See you there!
